Why Buying Original Content for Your Blog Makes Sense

buy contentContent creation is vital to inbound marketing.  Blogging is the easiest and most widely used tool for businesses to meet deploy their created content.  Data shows that 57% of business have acquired a customer through their company blog.  Also companies that blog get 55% more website visitors!  That is a huge!

Blogging does have a whole set of challenges though.  Let’s be honest blogging takes time and to do it right you have to do it consistently.  Also for blogging to really tie into your lead generation efforts you need to already have whitepapers and ebooks created related to your blogging content that you can include as call to actions at the end of your blog posts.

What is a Content Marketplace and how does it help?

A content marketplace is an online platform that connects businesses that need content articles to writers who can fulfill those needs. They make it easy to commission and purchase blog articles, e-books, white papers, and other content from thousands of writers, who are screened and rated.

The way this helps is it enables you to meet all your content creation goals while also keeping up with the day to day activities of your job.  Zerys is a Content Marketplace that can help you meet your content creation goals.

So remember a content marketplace allows you to:

  • Create more content
  • Increase web traffic
  • Deliver more inbound leads

It really is that simple.  Check out the attached slides for more statistics about blogging and check out the resources below for more information about Zerys.

Steve, thanks for the insight. That actually sounds like an interesting concept and it seems to be a little bit more structured then when we hired out for it.

And you're right. If you're a business owner who's time is worth $X then it might make sense to pay less than $X to have the work done even if you could (in theory) do it faster.

I guess my time is only worth $.00X. Ha!

Thanks for the kind words Joy.

Peter - you bring up a very valid point here. If it takes you longer to hire a writer, explain what you want, and revise the content yourself, then why bother outsourcing in the first place?

As an agency in the past, we used to deal with this a lot when we tried to hire writers on our own, and had to use various tools to manage the process and the writers. This is what motivated us to design and build Zerys.

We knew that the only way to make outsourcing worthwhile would be to provide a quick, simple, risk-free way to try out many writers, until you identify the ones you love, and then build a team of your own favorite writers to work directly with in the future.

If you don't like the content you get back, you can simply reject it, and choose to put it back on the job board so another writer can take a shot at it.

We also tried to make it very quick and simple to make edits or request revisions from the writer.

You are right Peter - when it comes to blogging, it's all about sharing your knowledge and expertise. However, it is often very difficult for business owners and marketers to find the time to sit down and write great blog posts that share that knowledge on a regular basis (hopefully several times per week to get the best long-term results.)

In a sense, you are just having a writer do most of the initial leg work to create a first draft for you. Great content often requires some revisions before going live, so once you find a writer you like, you can add your thoughts to the piece afterwards. Over time, the writer should learn what you want more and more so that your time spent editing should become less and less.

If you can get someone to do 90% of the work for you, for a very affordable price, it could be well worth it - since your time is money.

Sorry for the long response! Thanks for listening.

I'm not implying it's bad for everyone, but we hired out for content creation before and weren't terribly impressed with the process. The final content was fine, and the people were easy to work with. I felt I could have blasted out the same amount of content from my own brain (especially with voice to text) in the same time it took to go back and forth with initial ideas, edits and re-edits. I think the idea of blogging is that you're the expert in your field so you should be able to write about it easily.

We've used Zerys a few times for blog posts and have been very impressed with the results. The executive team was skeptical that someone "outside of our industry" could write a decent article about our space, but all I had to do was provide a title, a few bullet points, a keyword and perhaps a few URLs and the content was turned around in a day. Some of the posts have been posted verbatim, some I've reworded so that they're in our "voice," others were great starting points that we were able to expand upon to make a longer post. Oftentimes, the most difficult part of creating content is getting started, and Zerys has been a quality, cost-effective method for us to boost our blog posts.
