How to Set up Google Analytics in HubSpot [Concept of the Week]

Google Analytics is a great website metrics tool that goes hand in hand with HubSpot’s marketing focused analytics. With Google Analytics, you can find out  time on site, bounce rate, exit rate, and even do geographic data comparison.

This 2 and a half minute video gives a brief walk through of how to set up Google Analytics in your HubSpot account.

@Daniel - Google Analytics gives you some interesting data HubSpot does not, like the bounce rate of your pages and how much time a visitor spends on your page. HubSpot is focused on Marketing analytics, so we don't have some fun (and insightful) info that GA provides.

Why would you want to use Google Analytics with the Hubspot Analytics? I thought you could not use them together?

Thanks so much! Very easy to follow your directions. Was able to make the changes right along with the video.

I can't get the sound to work on the Vimeo. I have no problem with You Tube. Any chance you have transcribed this with screen shots so I follow up on this concept of the week?

@Jimmy - that's great! I'm glad you found it helpful

@Mary - perhaps another member of your team had already installed Google Analytics? (Occasionally the code can look different). I would recommend calling our Support team at 1-888-HUBSPOT x3. Make sure to have your portal and Google Analytics accounts handy when you call.

I had followed your video and already had code in the body footer. It is the following:

'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();

</script>

How does this compare to the code I grabbed from anlaytics as your video suggested? Below is the code. What should I do?

Great tip, took just a few minutes to set up. I did the setup while listening to the video. Thanks for the help!

When I grab the code, it gives me options for what I am tracking.
do I keep one domain checked or do I check one domain with multiple subdomains?

@Ron - our Support team may be able to help you find the right code. (Without seeing it I'm not sure what's happening). Give them a call at 1-888-HUBSPOT x3. They may be able to jump on a GTM with you.
