Coming Soon: Major Upgrades to The HubSpot Competitors Tool

The HubSpot Competitors tool helps you gain insight into how competing businesses are faring against yours with their online marketing according to a number of handy and useful metrics. Our customers have been telling us for years that they love how Competitors gives them a leg up on other marketers by giving them insight into what the competition is up to and where they stand in comparison with them over time.

Well, it's time we showed the Competitors tool some love in return. We're giving it a bit of a facelift, yes, but we're also baking in tons of analysis and advice so that you not only understand where you stand vis a vis your competitors, you know exactly what you can do about it.

What's Changing in the New Competitors Tool

There's a lot of great new features coming in the new Competitors tool. Here are just a few of the most exciting.

Better Graphical Analysis

The new competitors tool will highlight the most metrics you find most useful, display how they've been trending over time, and suggest ways you can influence those trends yourself. While the old tool merely displayed numerical values in a table format, the new version will feature more robust and useful graphical analysis of these metrics, so that you have a better understanding right away about what needs to be done to improve -- or protect -- your position.

More Detailed Data

The new Competitors tool will give you more opportunity than ever to dig deeper into the numbers and trends so that you can get a detailed view on what's changed, and why.

More Recommendations

Gathering lots of data is one thing. Knowing what to do with it all is another thing entirely. Most marketers never make that leap. The new Competitors tool will provide you with specific suggestions as to what your best next move might be, given the trends detected by the tool and the competitors you're trying to outflank.

A Seamless Integration with Marketing Grader

We'll run a full Marketing Grader report on each of your competitors and pull these results right into your HubSpot. No more shifting between your HubSpot analytics tools and Marketing Grader to see the big picture -- now the big picture is all within one simple frame.

More Accurate Reporting

The landscape of the internet is constantly shifting, and the best metrics need to change often to reflect those shifts. We're leaving behind one or two old, outdated metrics so that you can focus on the ones that more accurately reflect the state of today's online reality. The old Traffic Rank will give way to more a more modern metric, and the old Website Grade will be replaced by the more detailed and comprehensive Marketing Grade.

When Can I Use It?

We're just about to start beta testing the new Competitors tool. If you'd like to be a part of these tests, get an early look at the new tool, and help us make it better for all HubSpot customers, let us know. We'll be wrapping up testing in a couple weeks, and should have the new tool released shortly.

UPDATE (8/27/12): The Competitor Analysis tool is now live in all HubSpot accounts.  Enjoy the updated tool!

These changes will be highly appreciated both by customers and ourselves as inbound marketing partner in the Netherlands and will make the online competitive analysis a lot more intuitive to grasp.

It would be great though if the current limitation of 10 competitors would be either removed or increased to say 20 of 25.

Pls keep the HubSpot community posted on the improved competitor analysis formally going live, thanks!

We love these improvements. Keep them coming! It would be great, though, to get more thorough feedback on what elements drive website grade the hardest.

Thank you for sharing but how can I access your tool? Is this something I have to pay for?

Does your tool do what this guy talks about? http://youtu.be/_Rww1AUFKCo

And is your data collected in real time?

You released this prematurely - big chunks simply don't work, and you've forgotten all the competitors I had been tracking. You declared victory prematurely.

Hi Bob, Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulty with the tool. I'm going to look into your account and I'll contact you directly for more details.
