General HubSpot Design Certification Questions

Who is the HubSpot Design Certification meant for?

03_HubSpotDESIGNMCBadge_V2.png

The certification is suitable for designers with experience in crafting website pages, templates, and styles. Basic proficiency in writing HTML and CSS are required for completion. This two-part certification will test your
proficiency with using HubSpot tools to design. This certification includes six training classes, each around
30 minutes in length.

Do I need to know how to code for this certification?

Yes. Basic proficiency in writing HTML and CSS are required for completion. Advanced knowledge with Javascript may prove helpful, but is not necessary to pass the certification.

Do I need a HubSpot account to create templates for the practicum portion?

No. Create a free Designer account, which will give you access to tools necessary for completing the certification.

Test and Practicum

I didn't pass my test. Can I take it again?

Of course. However, you must wait 48 hours before taking the test again. Pro tip: Use those 48 hours to review the study guides and class resources. If you do not pass three times, you will be blocked re-testing for 30 days.

Can I save my test progress and come back later?

No. Once the test timer begins it cannot be paused. It is not recommended to close the page or browser during your testing.

I tried to take the test but when I logged in, it told me that I did not pass. What happened?

The test timer starts as soon as you view the first page of questions. Chances are, you started the test at a previous time but closed it before finishing. The system can't send notifications of expired time while you're not currently logged in. Thus, you'll receive notification of not passing the exam upon returning to the page.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. The test will unlock itself 48 hours after you received the notification that your time expired.

I passed but think I can get a better score! Can I take it again?

Not at this time.

You calculated my score wrong and I should have passed.

The score is calculated by the number of incorrect answers divided by the total number of questions. Since the individual test sections contain a different number of questions, the section percentages are not weighted evenly when averaging the scored based on the sections. Re-evaluate your score using the above formula and if your score still seems incorrect let us know on this form.

I never received an email after taking the test.

If you've unsubscribed from a previous HubSpot email, you may not receive certification-related communications. If you'd like to resubscribe to certifications-related email only, please state that you'd like to resubscribe on this form.

I passed the test, but it still says I'm "not yet certified."

The HubSpot Design Certification has two parts: a test and a practicum. In order to get certified, you'll need to pass the test and successfully complete a practicum. The practicum details are included in the email you'll receive when you pass the test.

What else if someone else at my company has passed the practicum already? Do I need to create my own?

The HubSpot Design Certification is an individual testing process. In order to complete the certification, you will take the test on your own and complete the practicum with your personal design work.  Lastly, submit your practicum using the same email address with which you passed the test to ensure that your certification status is processed properly.

I submitted my practicum more than 5 business days ago and I haven't yet heard back. What's the status?

If you've ever unsubscribed from any HubSpot emails, you may not receive the email notifying you that your practicum has been approved.

If it's been more than 5 business days since your practicum was submitted and you're still waiting for results, check your certification status by clicking Resources > Certifications and locating the HubSpot Design Certification.

I received an email reminding me to submit my practicum, but I've already submitted it. Did the submission go through?

If you passed your test more than two weeks ago and your practicum has yet to be approved, you may receive an email like this.

If you’ve already submitted your practicum, please disregard the email. Your practicum is added to our grading queue the moment that you submit it.

Can you reset my password? The reset isn’t working.

Unfortunately, we cannot reset your password. However, you can create a new user with the correct email address and if necessary, we can transfer any existing certification to that new account.

You can also submit a web ticket with our friendly Support team.

Badges and Certificates

What's the difference between the badge and the certificate?

The badge is a PNG image that you can place on your own website to show off your outstanding design skills. The certificate is a PDF with a higher-resolution, most appropriate for printing. Frame it, laminate it, at least hang it up somewhere for your colleagues to see.

Can I change the name on my certification?

Yes. Your name on the certification badge and certificate is reflected by your user name in Settings. Need some help changing your user name? Click here for instructions.

The HubSpot Design Certification badge must include an individual's name. Companies are not permitted to put their company name on a certification badge.

Can I move my certification to a different email address?

Absolutely! The only caveat is that the address you’re moving certifications TO must currently be associated with a HubSpot Portal of some kind. Either add the address you’d like to move your certifications TO as a user in an existing portal, or create a free account here.

Once you’ve made sure the address you’re moving your certifications to is associated with a HubSpot portal of some kind, contact HubSpot's support team to request a certification swap..

Oh and a friendly reminder that according to the Terms and Conditions, the Inbound Certification badge must include an individual's name.  Companies or agencies are not permitted to put their company or agency name on a certification badge.

What's the best way to show off my badge?

Your badge represents all the hard work you put in towards earning a certification - and not to mention your inbound expertise. Show it off! Here are a few of the ways you can demonstrate your expertise:

  • Add it to your website or to your email signature. You can use the badge embed code to add your badge to the HTML of your website or upload the image directly, depending on your CMS and email client configuration.
  • Display your badge to the inbound.org community. This happens automatically when you create an inbound.org account with the same email address that you used to become certified.
  • Add your badge to your LinkedIn profile. (This can increase your profile views by up to six times.) Click the "Add to your Linkedin Profile button" as shown below:
    add_to_profile_linked_in

How do I embed the badge on my website?

After you pass the certification test and practicum, you'll be given your embed code. An example of where you can find it is shown below:

embed_badge

How do I resize this badge?

You can edit the HTML embed code after copying it. Look for the img tag and add in your height and width parameters.

Community

How can I connect with other certified designers?

Join the HubSpot Designer Forum on inbound.org.

Can I use your slides in my own presentation or blog about the certification?

Absolutely. Please credit HubSpot where appropriate. You can download the class slides on the individual class page.

If you're thinking about blogging about it,  please remember to include a link back to the certfication program, and again credit HubSpot's content where appropriate.

Expiration

Why does my certification expire after one year?

The design industry and HubSpot tools evolved at a rapid pace. We update the HubSpot Design Certification on a yearly basis, much like other design certification programs. You'll get re-certified each year to demonstrate your skills and knowledge.

I received an email saying there’s a new version of one of my certifications available, but then it says I’ll get access to it in 30 days. Which is right?

You are not permitted back into the test until one year from your test pass date. However, you may review the updated certification classes and study guide. You'll be able to access the test in 30 days.

If I have X days left before expiration but re-certify now, will it extend 13 months from the original expiration date or the re-certification?

Your new certification badge will extend 13 months from the re-certification date, not your original certification date.

I passed the exam, and now I'm wondering how long I have to submit my practicum.

Congrats on passing the exam! You have 12 months to submit your practicum in order to be officially certified. Please keep in mind that our practicums can take up to five full business days to be graded.
