Hi there, welcome to the course on the fundamentals of digital advertising from HubSpot Academy. My name's Corey, and in this course we're gonna walk through everything that you need to know to get started with online advertising. Whether you're completely new to the digital advertising landscape or have already been running your own ad campaigns, this course will help you learn new skills and keep up with changes in the industry. 


We'll kick things off by learning about journey-based advertising and exploring how this methodology applies to paid search and social media advertising. In short, journey-based advertising is a digital advertising strategy where you tailor your ad targeting and your ad creatives to align with they way that people actually buy. In the first lesson of this course, you'll learn more about how to use digital ads at every stage in the buyer's journey. 


Next, we'll dive into understanding digital advertising. This is where you'll learn the fundamental knowledge for how digital advertising works. We'll take a look at some successful digital ads and you might be surprised by just how much they look and feel like organic content. We'll walk through how to use paid and organic strategies together to maximize your results. And regardless of where you're advertising, you're gonna want to know how much to spend. We'll work through how to determine your maximum ad spend with the help of a hypothetical example. 


Paid search and social media are by far the two most effective types of digital advertising. We'll cover an introduction to both of these topics by understanding where a search and social fits into your marketing strategy, exploring the advertising platforms that are available, and learning how to create remarkable ad content for both. 


We'll wrap things up with an example of a digital advertising success story in action with a case study from Texada Software, a software company that had a small advertising budget and managed to turn it into a hugely successful video campaign on social. We'll watch their video together and then learn the story behind how this campaign came to be.
